Any good foundations?

Postby peppin97 » Tue Dec 14, 2010 11:07 am

I've tried quite a lot of foundations now my last one was dream satin liquid but it just made my skin look horrible and came off during the day, yesterday I went out and bought dream matte mousse but I think its the wrong shade and so now it makes me look orange! I put stay matte powder over it to make me look less orange, it kind of worked but now it just feels really heavy and as if im wearing A LOT of make-up, I dont want to be one of those teenagers out wearing thick or orange make-up I would quite like one that would just give me a natural look but cover up the spots, marks on my face. I have quite fair skin, also does mousturiser work? how long after the mousturiser goes on would you put the foundation on? Any good foundations and methods that could stop me looking as orange would help, thankyouu :) xx

I have dry and fair skin, and I use Revlon Photoready foundation. As long as you blend it well, it says on all day. It's oil-free, so it's a bit hard to blend, so I moisturize first and wait a few minutes before putting on the foundation. I also use Marcell powder on top of the foundation after I've applied it everywhere. As to not looking orange, you just need to choose a better shade. :)

Try using a bare minerals. They have lots of different shades that match your skin, and if you don't cake it on, it looks completely natural. Good luck :)

A powder foundation is much softer than a liquid foundation.
(And putting powder over a liquid makes the cakey heaviness)
You could use a concealer if you need it underneath or you may be able to get away with a little extra coverage with the powder in certain place instead. Remember with anything make up less is more!!!
To help with looking orange you just need to find the right color. This can be tricky without trying it on so try to buy it from somewhere that you are able to return things. When trying to find the right shade its best to try it just above the jaw line. (if need be any place on the face will work but dont put it on your hands they arent the same color) Always use a brush to put on foundation it goes on smoother and you are able to blend better.

Revlon Photo-ready, I bought the bottle about 3 months ago, there is still a lot left, and it gives nice coverage without looking too fake.
Moisturizer helps foundation to last longer and look nicer on skin. Just apply it before foundation, wait for it to dry and then apply foundation. A good moisturizer is Olay Complete with spf 15.
I have fair skin as well, and in the lightest shade this matches perfectly, it does not look orange at all.
Remember a little bit goes a long way.
Another good foundation is Make Up Forever HD foundation. The bottle is about 40 bucks, it lasts for months, and the lightest shade is good for fair skin. But Revlon for a much cheaper price is just as good.

Mix the foundation with a face cream. (I'd say maybe a 70% cream 30% foundation)
Just put it on like you would any face cream. The coverage will be minimal, but it won't look orange and it evens things out a bit. (Also, not as thick.)
If you're unsatisfied with it, just dust a bit of your powder over top during the day.
Or, if your have the funds, consider getting new makeup.
Any mineral powder will look really natural, and it won't clog your pores or feel heavy.
However, they make up doesn't stay on very long and it (in my experience) doesn't do a helluva lot of covering.
Try a tinted face cream, a much lighter shade of foundation (remember, if it's too pale, a dust of bronzer can fix that in a jiffy) or even try using a stick cover up for the specific spots and lightly blend it in all over.
All in all it will take some searching until you find the face make up that works best for you.
Best of luck. : ]

there are 2 types of foundations that do this.

1. neutrogena skin clearing makeup
2. almay clear complexion makeup :)

i love BOTH of these! although if i had to choose one it would probly be the almay one. its really great. great coverage, long lasting wear, and it truly does helps acne prone skin :) so it wont make it worse or clog pores or anything, it actually make sit better! lol ok good luck xoxo
