Well I believe your right its the duty of their parents BUT parent ignore this 2 often so I think having school teaching it is necessary.

Most schools offer parents the choice to opt out. I think as long as that's an option, there should be no reason to stop offering it because of on cultural differences. Having sex education classes does not in any way prevent parents from talking to their kids about their own values. In fact, it may make it easier, because kids have already had a chance to talk about sex in an open discussion setting. Regardless, kids DO get sex education in school - from their peers. Because of that, I would want them to hear the objective, accurate version.

even if it's taught in schools, religious parents can still opt out. So, anyone who thinks teaching sex ed in schools is going to fix anything is kidding themselves. Just sayin
