Immaturity, bad parenting, absent parenting, high school "mentality", low self-esteem...the list goes on and on. You sound like a very intelligent girl and it sounds like your parents did exactly what they should do. That's good. However, some parents think that NOT talking about things is "easier" than embarassing themselves! Shows their immaturity, too. Sadly, so many of these girls are more preoccupied with getting attention (again, probably low self esteem) and being known for having knowledge of sex (even though they haven't got a clue). I agree...it's sad. However, I recommend that you maybe do something about it. Talk to these girls. Don't put them down, or talk down to them. Show them that you care and that you don't want them making mistakes. Maybe talk to a teacher at the school or someone in charge to see if they could possibly do some sort of lecture or programming. None of these things will help everyone...but, if you help one girl...that's good! Put your education and maturity to use and SET AN EXAMPLE! I wish you the best!
