My 360 has gotten the red ring for the 3rd time now. The first time was about a year after I got it; I just kept turning it on and off until it went away. The second time happened earlier this year in college. My roommate took it apart and did a temporary fix which made it last a month and then it happened again. My question is, is there a permanent fix to it or at least something that last longer? He used some cheap thermopaste to do it. And if there isn't a fix, can I exchange it at GameStop for another one? If so how much?

i dont think so now gamestop will take that xbox 360 as it has been opened...and about permanent fix idont thnik so!...it happen to me on my elite! :(...get a new xbox its cheap! thats what i did!

this might help...my roommate had the same problem and he fixed himself..its been working great for 6 months now. try it..maybe it will help. good luck.
