Today at a thrift store, I purchased a tunic. As I was waiting to be served I noticed that there were holes in the neckline and in one pocket; so I thought it not unreasonable to request a discount. I have done this many times before & have always received a positive response - generally (because they just want to make a sale) they are happy to let me have the items for 50% off the marked price. But today the answer was a defensive 'no......I can't do anything about the price, I'm not the pricing lady....she's out to lunch....the price is what it is, take it or leave it.' I didn't believe the yadda-yadda about this retail assistant's impotence, so I just took it, but remain unhappy with this store's 'policy'. Sure, secondhand clothes are seldom perfect, but the item was faulty - holes in clothing require the purchase of matching thread and time to mend. It's the first time I've had such a request turned down - and the last time I'll be patronising that store (particularly as I later discovered they are not a charity, unlike the other thrift stores I shop at). (Incidentally, the store is in new zealand, and I normally shop in australia - don't know if that makes any difference) What do others think?

What they said could certainly be true, but they could have been a lot nicer about it. I agree with you though. That store would never see me again. Good For You!

Yes and the reason is we will always have to have second hand products.I mean cut the price ,slash the detail,and you would still get a following anyway.Face it we are not perfect and we never will be.So everyone should be involved
